Body-centred practices

Using the body’s wisdom in therapy

I have training in, and a deep passion for, body-centered practices such as mindfulness, breathwork and movement (intuitive dance, yoga). The body holds an incredible amount of wisdom that can be accessed through these practices and contribute to our therapy process. The practices often facilitate our entry into altered states of consciousness in which we can undercut the unhelpful narratives we hold about ourselves, helping us to gain more traction on the heart of our experience and witness new depths of our ourselves. These tools can also be used to help us learn to better regulate our nervous system and to process challenging emotional/psychological material, thereby facilitating us to come to a place of increased equanimity and balance. I believe that combining these body-centered tools with talking therapy creates more wholistic and direct connection to our experience of self, unconscious material, and emotional world.

If the idea of using these approaches interests you, or even if you are curious and would like more information, feel free to get in touch to discuss my offerings further. I offer the option of working with any of these body-centered practices alone, or in combination with talking therapy. We can work together to find an  approach suited to your individual needs and can adapt this along the way depending on where your process takes you.

The body-centred practices are ancient, their longevity testament to their efficacy, and I feel passionate about weaving this ancestral wisdom back into our modern world by reigniting the ritual of coming together in group ceremony to practice them. Therefore, in addition to individual work, I offer these practices to groups. This is not group therapy, but coming to a group can be very therapeutic. See the events page for upcoming groups offerings.
