Sacred Dance Ceremony

Sacred Dance is a conscious dance, similar to ecstatic dance, but we acknowledge the sacred nature of the dance process by holding the dance as a ceremony. This involves consciously opening and closing sacred space, dancing with intention and an altar, and invitations to engage with ritual and group sharing circles. Allowing our bodies to dance their dance is a way of remembering who we are at our core. We can connect to our soul, remember what is important, and experience our essential nature.

During a sacred dance ceremony I will gently guide you into intuitive movement and an exploration of yourself through dance by using verbal prompts and carefully selected music. This is not the sort of dance you find in clubs and nor is it instructed dance moves. Instead it involves finding ways to get out of your mind so that the body can take over and move how it wants to move. There is a huge amount of wisdom held in our body which can bring great insights to consciousness if we can let go of judgements, stories and expectations enough to trust in our body’s expression of it’s own rhythm and flow.

Often we can enter altered states of consciousness through dancing in this way, and experience states of being which can feel profound. Dancing together in this way is an ancient practice across many cultures, and so when we gather to dance it can often feel like a home coming or remembering of something we have always known deeply in our bones. Authenticity is inherent in this form of self-expression and being witnessed by others in your own movement adds another layer of power to the experience.
